Boerne ISD’s INCubator Pitch Day is Approaching!

Our 2024-2025 Incubator teams are gaining momentum! As they approach the final Pitch Night, teams are making impressive strides in both their products and presentations. We’re excited to share updates from several of the participating teams and provide our audience with a sneak peek at what’s coming to Pitch Night!

Attraxis, led by Hudson Bruce, Walker Hill, Jake Perez, and Brayden Beierle, has spent the year developing an innovative hanger. “This premium-quality, customizable wooden hanger with magnetic attachments is truly changing the hanger game,” they shared. Beyond refining their product, they’ve sharpened their presentation skills, showing remarkable growth in just a few months.

Another team that’s been impressing us is Coze, a talented group including, Carter Thompson, Walker Affeldt, Catalina Martinez, and Brooks Warrick. Their product, a neck pillow designed for better sleep and more style, is something to be excited about. These students have demonstrated excellent speaking and presenting skills, and their hard work has paid off. They were honored with the opportunity to present at the A&M Idea Challenge in College Station and, just recently, received approval for their prototype from an Alibaba manufacturer. This is a huge milestone for them, and they are now one step closer to making their vision a reality.

Another incredible team made up of Lily Alejo, Hedi Fransic, Mayte Nunez, and Keira Schonfeld, are creating a product designed to support mothers, whether they are struggling during pregnancy or navigating the challenges of postpartum. Their innovative kits, called SerenitEase Care Kits, aim to provide comfort and ease during these crucial stages of motherhood. Since their previous pitch, the team has made remarkable strides, including productive meetings with preschools, gathering valuable surveys and feedback, and confirming strong interest from women who would benefit from their kits. They are also nearing the completion of their prototypes and have already started building their website. With these key milestones in place, they are poised for a successful launch. The team’s dedication and passion is evident, and they are excited about the impact their product will have on mothers everywhere. Their next steps involve refining their final prototype and preparing for production, ensuring that they can meet the demand they’ve already generated.

Throughout the year, these teams, and many others, have worked tirelessly to perfect both their product and their presentations for pitch night. They’ve learned firsthand how critical the pitch is in determining the success of a startup. A strong, confident presentation can truly make or break a team, and the students have spent countless hours practicing and perfecting the art of speaking clearly, maintaining eye contact, and projecting their voices. While these skills were challenging for many students at first, after a year of practice, we can confidently say that every student is pitch-ready, even at the young age of high school.

The skills the students develop through the Incubator program go far beyond just getting a good grade. They’re learning lifelong lessons in communication, entrepreneurship, and innovation that they will carry with them throughout their college years and into their careers. The experience of presenting in front of a panel of judges, refining their products, and collaborating with teammates is invaluable, offering them a glimpse into the world of real-world entrepreneurship.

We also want to express our gratitude to the judges who will be attending pitch night and the preliminary pitch day. Their expertise and insight will be invaluable to the students as they showcase their hard work. A special thank you to Samantha Morganroth from Das GreenHaus, Jenny Forks from J. Forks Designs, Brad Roberson from Forge Business Brokerage, Ricky Gleason from Forge Business Brokerage, and Richard Paco from LOCOAL. Your support and guidance make a lasting impact on these students, and we are so thankful for your involvement in this important process.

We also want to give a huge shoutout to the incredible mentors who have generously given their time, insight, and encouragement to these student teams all year long. Their real-world experience and guidance have helped shape each team’s journey—asking the tough questions, celebrating the small wins, and pushing students to think bigger. The growth of these students is a direct reflection of the support they’ve received. We are very lucky to have such an engaged and inspiring group of mentors supporting this program!

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to Jenny Breuer for leading the INCubatoredu program with passion and purpose. She’s not only taught and prepared these students every step of the way, but she’s also been their biggest supporter and a fierce advocate for entrepreneurship in our schools. We’re so grateful for all she does!

As pitch day approaches, the excitement is building, and we can’t wait to see these students take the stage and share their innovative ideas with the world. Join us, April 23rd at Champion High School for the Boerne ISD 2024-2025 IncubatorEDU Final Pitch Night!

Jim and Mary Thompson’s entrepreneurial journey began in the most unexpected of places: a chili competition. For two years, Jim cooked up his award-winning chili for the Terlingua Chili Cook Off, even making it to the finals twice. This experience, combined with their shared passion for hospitality, helped shape the direction of the couple’s business endeavors.
