Experiencing Rooted Strength
Blanche Schuchardt, owner and founder of Rooted Strength, is redefining women’s fitness by viewing workouts as more than just a path to improved gym performance. Her approach focuses on using fitness as a tool to unlock women’s full potential in every area of life. Rooted Strength is Boerne’s first all-female strength studio, creating a supportive space where women can build strength both physically and mentally.
Blanche offers more than just workouts—she provides personalized guidance through education, mentorship, and tailored exercises to empower women on their unique fitness journeys. To comprehend the underlying reasons behind your experiences is extremely vital for your motivation to make educated decisions for your body, paving the way for lasting progress and sustainable change.
Schuchardt guided Brinley, a DasGreenhaus intern, through a personal evaluation similar to what will soon be offered to local clients at her studio. She had Brinley perform a series of functional movements to assess how her joints moved and to identify any imbalances in her movement patterns. The detailed observations revealed several key areas of concern that aligned with Brinley’s initial complaints, such as discomfort during deadlifts and running. These insights not only helped pinpoint specific problem areas but also provided a clear understanding of how to address Brinley’s discomfort through targeted interventions.
After initially assessing Brinley’s movements, Schuchardt closely observed her as she performed a variety of exercises, offering tailored tips on balance and providing guidance on the appropriate intensity for each movement to ensure safety.
In Brinley’s words, “I now know why my back hurts when I deadlift.” This moment of clarity highlights exactly why this service is crucial for female student-athletes; by teaching them the biomechanics behind their everyday exercises, the program empowers athletes to better understand how their bodies move—and why they might experience discomfort or pain.
The hands-on, interactive approach of this course makes learning both enjoyable and engaging, while equipping athletes with the tools to prevent injuries. Through personalized evaluations, each participant gains insight into the root causes of their pain and is provided with actionable steps to correct improper form and movement patterns. This individualized focus ensures that athletes not only address existing issues but also build stronger, safer habits for the future. In Brinley’s words, “Having a session entirely tailored to you and your own abilities is beyond refreshing as a student athlete who doesn’t always feel prioritized in a team sport.”
Incorporating this type of education into every high school sports program is something we as high school athletes ourselves, see as essential. It empowers athletes to make more informed decisions about their training, leading to fewer injuries and improved performance. Many high school athletes don’t fully understand the long-term effects of their training habits, and often push through pain without recognizing the underlying causes. Learning how to address pain by understanding its root cause is extremely valuable. As female student-athletes, we wholeheartedly recommend this program. Throughout the session, we kept thinking, “Why haven’t we done this sooner?”
In addition to the valuable education provided during the session, the experience was incredibly fun and enjoyable. For many, the idea of working out isn’t always the most enticing, but with Blanche Schuchardt’s guidance, energy, and expertise, it definitely is now!
